It’s a big festival holds in Viterbo every year on the evening of September 3rd, followed by thousands of people, to commemorate Saint Rosa. A hundred men called Facchini di Santa Rosa (porters) carry on their shoulders, and through the narrow streets of the medieval town, the “Macchina di Santa Rosa”, a huge tower 30 meters high (98ft) and fifty-one quintals of weight (about 11,000 pounds).
Giulio Della Rocca taught mathematics in the United States for many years. Giulio currently lives between Santa Monica (Los Angeles) and Viterbo, a city between Northern Rome and Lower Tuscany. He is very attached to his land called Tuscia and invites Americans to visit it.

The Walk on the Way of Saint Rosa’exile is a series of excursions organized every year from September to December by “Take Off Association” chaired by Silvio Cappelli. These excursions want to evoke the exile of Saint Rosa from Viterbo in the 13th century walking along the same path that the Saint followed during her exile from Viterbo to Soriano nel Cimino and Vitorchiano. This trail leads through marvelous hamlets, fields in bloom, secular woods, and hidden archeological sites, always accompanied by the professional guide of Anna Rita Properzi.
